There is an extremely fertile region along the Nile River in Egypt called Kafir S'AD. The soil is special, but acreage is limited. This is where this extraordinary Giza cotton is grown. This expensive, super-long-staple cotton represents just 0.4% of Egypt's total annual cotton production and to date has not been used for commercially available sheets.
Giza yarns are sold by the number - like a golf score, the lower the number, the better. Sferra uses Giza 70 yarns in the production of the core line of Italian woven sheets. Giza 45, even finer that Giza 70, is considered the world's finest super-long staple cotton yarn. Due to its small yield, it has primarily only been used for fine men's shirting. However, by building direct relationships with these manufacturers, Sferra is able to obtain a percentage of their production.
From this very special Giza 45 cotton yarn, Sferra has created three spectacular offerings which add up to three of the world's finest sheets. The plain sateen and jacquard sateen weaves are silky soft and similar to the already popular 1,020 thread count program. For the percale lover, this is the ultimate: the lightest, softest percale the world has ever seen.
