Today's mattresses are constructed thicker, and sometimes with an extra layer of cushioning known as a pillow top. Conventional linens typically fit mattresses up to 10 or so inches (25.4 cm) thick. However, if your mattress exceeds this thickness, your sheets may not fit securely on the bed.
